The Bleakness of Twilight

My other half now lies lifeless

Robbed of color and vibrance

I am fraught with sadness

And wracked by despair

My words are but empty words

There is neither faith nor conviction

Gone from my heart like the birds

Distraught and bitter I am now

The light is gone from the world

In the highest tower, I once shone

But now, from its height I am hurled

To the ground that now consumes me

As time marches onward

I cannot do the same

What is there to go forward

I am without my lantern’s light

While others pass me indifferently

Into death or longer life

I finally realize my folly

My naïveté has blinded me
