Blast From the Past

It's been years,

Years since I've wroten a poem.

My freshman year in High School,

That's all I would do.

When I got home from school,

I would listen to music and write.

Friend and I would share our poems together.

Create our own "Poetry Books".

The poems were a release from our homelife.

Chaotic, loud, and fearsome.

Day in and day out.

Poems were our escape from reality.

Then we stopped writing poems.

Not sure why.

Life moved on.

We released ourselves of our chaotic, loud, and fearsome homelife.

We moved on. Created our own separate lives.

Less chaos now.

More freedom.

Less fear.

More chances to grow.

What a blast from the past it is,

To write a poem.

It's been years since I've wrote a poem.

My freshman year in High School.

That's all I would do.

This was exactly how I felt writing today! I used to be addicted to poetry; it was like it was my only escape. Then suddenly I realised I didn't really want to escape. What a creative idea, writing a poem about what you thought when prompted to write a poem. The less and more part is especially great. Well done!
