As the year went by,

I seem to realize how terrible it was.

The year chewed me up,

and had no decency to clean its own mess.

It took away the lives of many Great people,

and gave power to those who Oppress the underclass.

Many horrific things have happened,

in the year 2016.

Many people lost their jobs,

and their senses of purpose.

 

Yet,

when I look around,

I see that this year continued on.

I see Lovers together,

and small children playing.

I see people forming communities,

and I see others battling for their Justice. 

This year has been a confusing one, 

filled with many Goods and many Bads,

and many Indifferences too. 

 

Overall though,

I would say I am grateful to have witnessed it.

Because with all this evil in the world, 

it's easy to see the Warmths people have to offer.

 

It's left me with a Bittersweet taste.
