A Bitter, Yet Sweet Curse

Here I lay in the hours of night

Filling my mind with all that I know

The image of an angel binds my sight

With frozen emotions embedded in snow.

Nine years in the past

Whether by first sight or not

One day's recognition will forever last

As a desire for which battles are fought.

Time was so simple back then

Yet timid memories leave the largest of bruises

The innocent love of a boy of ten

To forget them my mind refuses.

Her radiant eyes of brown

Draw in life far beyond our sun

To this day they prevent the spread of a frown

And time stops when her irises stun.

A tone that rings in her voice

Sings chorus to my obsessive mind

And leaves my stomach to rejoice

As if it were meant for my ears to find.

There is a glow that lights up every feature

Such as the curve of that pearly grin

There is but no earthly creature

That can match such eyes with fair skin.

I am tainted with this sickness of obsession

A bitter, yet sweet curse to hold

An emotion that is always in my possession

Or am I owned, waiting to be sold?

Regardless, time has taken its thrust

And has tortured and imprisoned me

Imprisoned by not love, but by lust

Yet she holds the sole active key.
