It is a plunge
into a fever
( a fury)
and then a lifting,
a heady euphoria
it is a bipolar
dance,
the darkness of duende
the dizzying rush
of composition...
It is squeezing
and extracting
that volatile juice-
a juice sweet as pain
bitter as joy
which is distilled as nectar
- as poetry's
flame.
