Proverbs 14:15 New English Translation (NET Bible)

15 A naive person will believe anything,
but the shrewd person discerns his steps.

Believing in if ...?

If I say yours ... can it be also mine

if I pretend that we are sharing?

If what I have is borrowed time

what have I to give in the comparing?

If what I have ... is yours to start

and never was mine from the beginning.

Then in the game, I thought I played,

I never got to the first inning.

Not even in the stands I was

just in a uniform of my own making.

Appearing in the eyes of the world

the fool ... that I was faking.
