Believe

Being a shy and reserved teen, I've always feel out of place. Going through a deep depression, a light came into my depth of darkness, which is my 10th grade teacher. She inspired me to express myself through root word play. the first time she exposed to me was "The Rose That Grew from Concrete", by Tupac Shakur. That was the first poem that struck me and made me feel as if I was a light shining in a dark tunnel. she also show me videos of Def Jam poetry and I was in awe of how powerful The poets expressed their emotions using different tones and gestures. From there, I knew I has the ability to be as great as them. Having my tenth grade teacher in my life has affected me in a positive way and I've blossomed into such a black, beautiful, and brave young woman. Just by one person believing in me at times where I felt like giving up and even taking my own life, even though it took a while, she taught me to believe in myself. I will do so much more than just survive this world; I will change.
