being human

Being human, you are completely at odds

with nurture and with nature.

Mother says do this.

Nature says do that.

Damned if you do, damned if you do not.

As a human, the pressure to succeed is intense.

The spirit is willing,

the body is weak.

some mistakes will be costly,

can you pay the price?

Being human sucks.

It means you love,

and love means you get hurt,

and being hurt definitely sucks.

Love, if you are unlucky in it means disappointment.

It means betrayal,

worse, it means loss.

Being human means mortality.

there is always a sickening feeling in your gut

lingering...floating...

It is the feeling that every season is hunting season.

Time is gunning for you.

If it does not get you,

other humans will.

As a human, you are sure to dream,

and your dreams will be crushed.

In the end, it is all a game,

and the truth is...

it is scary to dare to dream again.

Your own kind will subvert your success.

They will fight tooth and nail to tear you down,

and use your tears to drown you.

you see, contrary to what we've been told,

compassion is not our basic instinct.

It is a dog eat dog world

only, we are humans.
