Smiles and laughter are the first you see

When u look at me.

Hidden behind my eyes are,

My pain and fears

You only need to look closely to see.

Who is this person that smiles so bright?

Who is this person with an infectious light?

Behind the curtain is the real me 

Behind the curtain is where you will see

A little girl still hiding behind her insecurities

So she smiles and laugh for the whole world to see

No.... not her behind the curtain

For that is who she is afraid to be

So....... 

Instead she is the girl that everyone 

Wants and tells her to be

Take a look behind the curtain

And this you shall find

A lady who has so much love to give

But is scared of the hurt that very well may come with it

A woman with strong morals tested at every turn

But somehow comes out on top 

Only by the grace of her ever forgiving God

Striving for knowledge and a little more faith

Just a little more faith in myself

A little more knowledge of myself

Behind the curtain is a complete woman

Behind the curtain she does not belong

When will my time come?

To be in front of the curtain

To stop being what people want me to be

To be the woman God had planned for me to be

But for now behind the curtain she will remain

Behind the curtain until her courage she regains.
