Because I Loved You

Because I loved you, I learned the difference between healthy and unhealthy.

Because I loved you, I learned the difference between concern and control.

Because I loved you, I learned the difference between love and possession.

Because I loved you, I learned how not to love someone else.

Because I loved you, I resigned to how things were.

Because I loved you, I became complacent.

Because I loved you, I stayed when you were with someone else.

Because I loved you, I will be everything you never were.

Because I loved you, you blamed it all on me.

Because I loved you, you took advantage of me.

Because I loved you, you used me.

Because I loved you, you think this is how relationships work.

But now, because I love him, I'm finally beginning to realize you were wrong.
