Because I Love You

"Are you okay?" he asks

His hand moving down my hair.

"Have you eaten today?" he wonders

As he watches me wasting away.

"Put on your seatbelt" he reminds

Refusing to start the car.

"Where's your jacket?" he sighs

His smile falling at the sight of my frost-bitten nose.

He slipped out of his jacket, and pulled it over my shoulders.

Placing a soft peck on my nose.

He returns to my side, and grabs my hand.

Pulling me forward.

I dig in my heels, and refuse to let him move me.

Removing my hand from his

"Why do you care so much?" I ask

Tears stinging in my eyes

"What does it manner? why does anything?"

The tears spilled over.

And there was no stopping them.

I slip the jacket off my shoudlers and let it fall on the icy sidewalk.

He sighs with a smile.

Coming close again.

Picking up the jacket, wrapping it around me.

Ziping it all the way up.

Before he grabs my waist with one hand, his other at the back of my neck.

He pulls me in.

Hugging me so tight it hurts.

We stand there.

And for a moment I forget about everything but him.

Every doubt.

Every worry.

Gone.

Before he reaches up to my face with both hands.

Pulling back to look me in the eyes.

Thats when he whispers softly,

"Because I love you..."
