Because I Am Human

Location

I write because I am Human/ Because I must bear witness to and for the world./ All of the pain, love, beauty, anger and hope/ My body cannot contain it;/ I must let it go./ Even if I don't, the words will leak out of me/ Touching whatever I touch./ The words are alive inside me/ screaming to get out./ They inhabit every part of me./ I must let them out or they will fester,/ Building clots in my veins,/ Haunting my mind, enlisting me to release them,/ Never leaving to give me rest./ They pound inside my heart/ With an irregular rhythm that cannot be ignored./ Words are emotions incarnate./ The emotions manifest in me./ My duty as a Human is to let them out/ So that others can understand/ So that everyone will know they are not alone.
