Beauty's Plea

Location

Beauty cries out
To the young girl playing princess,
To the teen girl scrutinizing the reflection.
To the mom who weeps at a morphed form.
To the one in the wheelchair…
To the book worm…
To everyone.
“LOOK AT ME!”
“can’t you see me?”
“you say that you want me…
you say that you DESERVE me.
but how can you when you expect me to constantly become something i can’t be?
I give you myself, throw myself at you
yet you reject me, refuse me, and trash me.
I WANT TO BE SEEN
I, BEAUTY, WANT TO BE SEEN!
seen in the blood of a scratch
seen in the teary mascara
seen in the sweat on your brow.
I AM BEAUTY AND I’M TELLING YOU
IT’S ALL SO… beautiful.
you can break
you can crumble
you can bleed
THAT is so beautiful
your imperfections and faults that make you…
the only you… so beautiful.
you heal
you build
you feel
This is real beauty.
in good, in bad, in real, in fake. pretty and plain.”
Beauty screams...
“LOOK AT ME!”
“can’t you see me?”
