The beauty of modern pain

Aphrodite, beautiful and smart

Yet she hurts excessively deep down in her heart

She longs for true happiness, an escape from the world

She’s the goddess of beauty , her hair in curls

An embodiment of beauty, love,  and grace

Yet all she contains is depression behind a beautiful face

Day after day expected to be so much

She doesn’t understand these standards of role models and such

A girl who has everything can still be so sad

Those who don’t understand remain jealous and mad

Because how can a girl so beautiful and smart

Still feel so small like she belongs in the dark

She feels as if she doesn’t deserve all the glory the world has to give

She sees a life full of guilt and sadness as long as she may live

Because the goddess of love and all things good

Still loves the depressing life no person should
