Beauty behind a Mask

She awakes from a night of taunting dreams

Let’s her mind wander upon the happenings of the day

Soaks it in and just breathes

With a tear of hopelessness

She applies her make-up to only hide her true beauty

Fake eyelashes, another coat of mascara, red harlot lipstick

An external mask that has blinded herself

No one told her she was loved

No one told her she was beautiful

People threw meaningless words to her face

Even though she is loved

She is strong

She is pretty

She is smart

For she is true beauty hidden behind a mask
