Beautiful

Tue, 05/14/2013 - 02:57 -- S. Boek

We never truly see ourselves;
Only reflections or images.
Perhaps that is why we rely
On others’ opinions of our looks.
If we truly saw, I wonder if our thoughts would change.
Someone can truly look upon us and mean that we are beautiful...
If we could truly look upon ourselves,
What would keep us from seeing
The same beauty?
If “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”
Why do we trust the eyes of those
We barely know to judge us, instead of those
We love?
Beautiful is more than a body or a face.
It is a mind.
A sense of being
That is diverse and distinct.
Beautiful is in everyone.
But a mirror is all
We look at.
