To be the Light

Uncle applys for Scholarships

Some are big, some are small

Feeling the need to abandon ship

2 year old nephew looks with awe

Sees his uncle giving up

But needs to be THE LIGHT

Uncle thinks he is a scrub

Nephew needs to fly as high as a KITE

Negativity consumes Uncle

Consumes himself in his thoughts

Doesn't want to stumble

And never shoots his shots

But nephew shows him THE LIGHT

Brings back the heart in him

Uncles future starts looking BRIGHT

Feels the urge to go swim

Uncle is now THE LIGHT

Starts applying for every scholarship

Nothing leaves Uncles SIGHT

Don't feel discouraged when you don't get scholarships. Everytime I see my fellow seniors with an acceptance letter, I start getting discouraged. Don't be discouraged. Comparing myself with them is a mistake. I can never be them, and they can never be me. So what if they go out of state, I can still go to college, weather it be an instate college or a community college. Furthering your eduaction never hurts. For all of you out there that feel the same as me, don't lose faith.
