Be Enough

Location

Scream!

Scream, my darling, I promise you that

my words are not nooses,

my love not poison,

my kisses not lethal injection.

Scream, my darling, I promise you that

You cannot starve and drown at the same time,

You cannot possibly hurt while feeling pleasure,

You cannot be mad when I did not intend to hurt you.

Scream, my darling, I promise you that

When my bullet buries itself in your heart,

When your lungs choke on the tar of my words,

When your hand turns to a gun that you turn on yourself-

Scream, my darling, I promise you that

I never meant to hurt you.

No, my darling, I do not know

What love feels like

(You never loved me)

No, my darling, I do not want to be

Your perfect flower

Your pristine bride

Your plaything

No, my darling I am not

A bullet

A weapon

A monster

Smile!

Smile, my darling, I will promise you that

Love is not meant to hurt

Love is not meant to drive daggers into your heart

Love is not turning yourself into a bullet so that someone else will have to feel your pain

Smile, my darling, I will promise you that

You will never have to dig out the glass in your heart by driving a knife through your skin

You will never have to cry into a pillow, hoping I won’t hear

You will never have to be something you’re not

Smile, my darling, I promise you that

You are not the words they said you were

You are yours, not mine

You are beautiful

Smile, my darling, I promise you that

I will never intentionally hurt you

If I do I will apologize

I will make it right

"

Goodbye, my darling, tonight

I will not fold

I will fight

I will never be yours again

Hello, my darling, tonight

I will love you in every way I can

I will be hard without being brittle

I will stay with you without feeling trapped

Darling, tonight

I love you

And that will be enough for us

"
