To be

Ecclesiastes 1:9

What exists now is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done;
there is nothing truly new on earth.

Dragonflies and butterflies dancing in the daylight

Where do they sleep at night and who makes their bed?

Mosquitos and lightning bugs zoom for what is right

As many birds are on the prowl to catch them in their net

Life goes on religiously always at the expense of others

It seems to take the death of one to extend another’s existence

An ever ongoing sacrifice as almost no one bothers

To count the cost of it all as it wallows in persistence

“An eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth” for the chewing

Somewhere in this decaying world birds still sing the message

“Where there is life there is hope” for all to come the knowing

that the purpose of it all is explained in every bible passage

When blackbirds are dissatisfied it is not because of color

It may be that in search of food they’re rudely interrupted

When mockingbirds sing beautifully in hope someone bothers

Although mostly ignored by hearts and minds too corrupted

Does man choose a direction or are things partially preplanned

“There’s nothing new under the sun since all things have been”

When a sparrow falls to the ground or an ant dies in the sand

It all happened before somehow except for the redeemed

So to be a bird, ant or sparrow in the end it’s all the same

For a cabbage and tomato plant temporal seems understood

But to mankind, only life appears more like a game

That ignores time most oft and that seldom for the good
