based on a true story (society perception part 2)
Location
a cordial invite
to a brunch in meeting new people
would lead to building frienships
instead, the reception that was receive felt like a treaty of partisanships
where we just didn't belong
treated like outcasts
as if we were in a klu klux klan territiory
but funny though
none of those people weren't wearing a white mask and robe
they look like me, a latino
they look like my best friend, a black man
and then you had those racist white people
that was quite the inevitable when they looked at us with disgust
as if we had AIDS
there was infectious disease that was spreading
call hatred
although there is no known cure for AIDS
there is a cure for hatred
it's call love and humanity
where it's ok to say hello and how you doing
nowadays, courtesy is foreign like learning another language
here's a language we can all learn
it's call equality
you know
we all have the right to pursue happiness
we all bleed red
if you don't believe that, poke yourself and see what color comes out
ask a different person to do the same and see what color comes out
whether we like it or not, we are all one
sadly, we allow society to condition us with illusions of fabrications
you know, if you are dark, you're ugly, you're light, you're pretty
knappy hair, totally gross, straight hair, surreal because it's not real
the usual idiocies
tension mounted up and i dont even know these people
it was time to go
i fled the scene as if a crime was committed
a crime did occur; racism
and it's 2014
yet, we continue to enslave ourselves with injections of ignorance
that continues to poison us with hostility

This poem really hit home! It's funny how slavery and marching for our freedom ended a long time ago, yet we are still fighting for equality in this world now. Racism is strong! I know this from experience, but we, as writers and future leaders, are stronger. We can stand up now and fight the evil in this world with the words we write and speak. It shouldn't be this way... and it doesn't have to. All we need to do is keep strong and positive so that, in the future, we won't have to deal with this. This is a really powerful poem. Keep writing on my friend!
