The Authentic Me
by Hunter E Jones
Does the selfie define me?
Am I worthy? Am I pretty?
What am I, with this filter?
After the selfie, am I fitter?
Then again, should I care?
The tone of my skin, the length of my hair
These things are surface
My words are deep!
My strength, my courage
These qualities I keep
I am smart and I am bold
The weight of my character
It’s worth more than gold
A flat picture, a filtered selfie
Will never be, the authentic me

Me
