Aurora the Dragon Slayer

Maleficent towered

and sweared she'd devour

Aurora with relative ease.

Our hero, empowered,

thought ‘This is the last hour

Maleficent ever sees.’

Her hair spilled over

her iron-clad shoulders

and shone as bright as the sun.

Her voice sounded older

from her place on the boulder,

but loud and clear had it rung:

“I know you, I fought with you once upon a dream.

“I know you, the gleam off your scales is so familiar a gleam,

“and I know it's true that visions are seldom what they seem.

“But if I know you, I know what I'll do,

“I'll slay you at once, the way I did once upon a dream.”

She sized up her foe,

nocked an arrow,

released; it sailed through the air.

Time became slow,

but Aurora felt no woe

for she aimed at the heart with care.

What came next was sharp screaming,

the dragon was bleeding

and had nothing but hate in her eyes.

Broken scales were gleaming,

her heartbeat receding,

it seemed like the time for goodbyes.

The dragon fell with grace,

Aurora jumped down from her place,

thought ‘This can't be over just yet.’

She picked up her pace,

Aurora got close to her face,

and sadly her thoughts were correct.

She felt her body lift,

Maleficent rolled off a cliff

and they plunged to the darkness below.
