Aunt Jackie Villanelle

Location

Gentle darkness, don’t wait to close my eyes

You fell from the apartment around three

Now you have broken all your human ties

A sad event filled with terrible lies

Like an empty ship upon a stormy sea

Gentle darkness, don’t wait to close my eyes

The balcony you lept from saw your demise

You locked the door and tossed away the key

Now you have broken all your human ties

As the days pass, my sadness grows in size

In my dreams, images of you I see

Gentle darkness, don’t wait to close my eyes

The world was waiting for the sun to rise

Your grave rests beneath a flowering tree

Now you have broken all your human ties

Aunt Jackie, will you try to hear my cries?

A wonderful aunt you were to me

Gentle darkness, don’t wait to close my eyes

Now you have broken all your human ties
