Sitting in the fifth grade,

Poems were a drag.

Does broccoli rhyme with celery?

It's shaped like a handbag?

I know it was annoying,

But it really helped me write.

I was creative, yet realistic.

And my grammar was alright.

Poetry seemed to follow me

Throughout my years in school.

Even as a senior

I use it as a tool.

With rhyme and rhythm

You can't go wrong.

To my surprise

It was helpful all along.
