Another Lifetime

Location

Honors, Advanced Placement, Varsity Swim Captain,

Four years of straight A's, Salutatorian.

Blood, sweat, and tears,

Yet no one hears

The women of long ago,

Asking why I must put on this show.

I am not who I seem,

I have a different dream.

A simpler life,

Void of nonsense strife.

Society tells me career is the way.

But how about women of yesterday?

I dream of a family you see,

Where I can finally be me.

To doctor, teach, and nurture,

This is my desire for the future.

The loving wife and mother,

I wish to be no other.
