Angels of Music

“Aaaaa-aaa-aa-aa-aa-le-e.” A woman’s voice pierced the silent air, softly and slowly getting louder.

“Aaaaa-aaa-aa-aa-aa-le-e,” sounded again, a heavenly horn summoning a multitude of angels.

I listened carefully to each allelujah: first a single voice, crying a peaceful battlecry,

Then one more joining her in her call to battle. I listened as more and more voices joined her,

First one at a time, and then in groups, and then many voices rallying together

And as I listened, I prepared to join the multitude of voices.

Suddenly, it was time. We flooded in, joining the multitudes.

Concourses of children poured into the balconies, the glory of our message

And of each of our battles -past, present, and future- shining through our voices.

The music saturated the concert hall, and for that moment penetrated even the walls and the roof and the seats

And the voices of hundreds echoed the souls of millions,

And for that moment,

We were angels.
