and yet here we stand

they could never catch us.

not because we didn't want them to,

but because we didn't know how to let them.

we spent our nights wishing for someone to save us

and our days pushing away those who tried.

we taught ourselves how to love,

even if the only thing we were capable of loving

was the resentment we had for the world.

and so we go on,

jumping from one rooftop to the next

hoping we don't fall,

and if for some reason we do

       that

         someone

             will

                catch

                    us.
