The American Dream

The American Dream

May not be a dream at all

Is being born wrapped into the star spangled banner with a red hole in it.

To live in a world known to be free

It is not free at all. . .

Let me break this down.

Lincoln was just a stepping stone towards freedom

How ironic that

We put his face on a coin with only colored skin.

Society says to never follow but always look within,

But how can we do this with a white man's perception of how we must live.

The American Dream has really affected the young,

It's like every time you look up someone has a gun.

There is no American Dream,

Our only dream is to make it.

So scared to make our own decisions today,

We just fake it until we make it.

Depending on race and gender, it all depicts the frame.

Of how we live our life,

But don’t we all breathe the same?

Stereotypes and misconceptions ruins everything.

It makes no sense to even live up to or fulfill this dream.

This dream of becoming successful with the only motive of money.

There is more to life, it is bigger than our country.

Who knows what this American Dream really is?

Let’s just all come to the conclusion that this delusion,

Just is...

A dream with guidelines..

And when we wake up,

This world would be a better place.

This world would be a better place,

No famine, no wars,

No discrimination of any race .

The American Dream seems to be a nightmare.

When thinking of all the destruction, it puts you in despair.

Secrets, lies, and wars upon religion.

How is it the American Dream if you’re not considered a Christian?

You’re frowned upon, claimed to be a terrorist,

Killed or imprisoned.

We’re painted a mural of perfection.

But subliminally they feed us negatives in the same image.

We are pawns to Americas chess game, and we’re losing the scrimmage.

A dream is a figment of our imagination.

MLK lost his life for equality,

But we still have segregation.
