America The Orphan

She’s like a small orphan, searching,

Waiting, praying for a better future

As she balances on a creaking swing.

Watching the incoming family, clinging

Onto hope for a kind and caring foster brother,

She’s like a small orphan, searching.

Each new costumer comes in, brining

Thoughts of that father, another,

As she balances on a creaking swing.

A loud and loving voice is heard singing

As she is reminded of a father like no other,

She’s like a small orphan, searching.

Two children her age run out, reminding

Her of a comforting sister and brother,

As she balances on a creaking swing.

A shrill shout will break through and a bell will ringing,

Though she does not know of that loving and powerful father.

She’s like a small orphan, searching

As she balances on a creaking swing.
