America The Not So Great

Dear America,

What happened to the words you said?

“…all men were created equal.”

Oh, the lies you have fed.

All lives matter.

I understand that is true.

But guess who’s getting shot and killed?

Certainly, not you.

Dear America,

Over the years, the rules have changed.

Look in the mirror to see who’s to blame.

I’m just a child, trying to find my way.

God forbid that I’ll stray away.

I was raised not to fall for your lies.

Equality, freedom of speech.

Don’t you hear the cries?

Our people are hurting.

Why can’t you see?

Our country is falling apart.

I shall pray on my knees.

Our father who art in heaven.

When will the pain end?

We don’t have any more tears to cry.

We don’t have any more money to spend.

Most of our money ends up in your pocket.

The little we have left, stays in secret locket.

Dear America,

What if we were to flee?

All your citizens,

From sea to shining sea?

This path only leads to a dead end.

There goes our reputation.

Innocent lives’ blood fill your pool.

We only stay for free education.

People come here for the American dream.

As a U.S. citizen what should that mean?

A better life?

Maybe, but not for us.

How long will it take for you to realize our land is unjust?

Dear America,

I really do love you.

This is my birth home.

But your lies do hurt, just like stone.
