How about America that hates and discriminates

Against races and faces

We live in a time where our country is divided instead of united

 

Progress is undone, people that are LGBT are threatened with shock therapy

Muslims are banned while children are being thrown in the back of white vans

Love is forgotten while hate grows and spreads

 

Our phones have more personality than our politicians

Crying on election day just hoping that there is another way
People are being killed on facebook live

And children are in school with no academic drive

 

Are we even going to talk about the fact that Flint has no clean water,

Or is that just another thing going down the drain?

Marching is our way of speaking because how else do we get our voices heard?

We ask questions but the responses are shortened into a few words

 

America the great?

Not at this rate.

 

Students are graduating but what have we really learned?

The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.

No lessons on taxes and sewing a button

 

We are put into categories that we have been stuck in

Where is the learning, and how can I get it?

You are giving me these pieces I just can’t make them fit
