Alone Night

A full moon is glowing above a woody, dark landscape. The moon is sitting on the side of a mountain and shines a light on a lonely soul who sits at the edge of the cliff.  The sky is still dark, but there is a single light from a passing car, blinding the only occupant of the car. The solitary passenger is searching for something, or someone. The white feather found on the side of the road is a sign of hope. The feather contains the force of the universe, a key to unlocking the secret of existence, guidance from the spirit world, a sign of Divine presence, an answered prayer. Do we need to look very hard to see the answers to our prayers, or do they speak to us without our even knowing it? A windy day. A very windy day. The old pine trees lining the backyards of my neighbors are bending and twisting like a big piece of pretzels. Yet, my world seems very stable, and there are no indications that anything extraordinary is about to occur. I take that as a sign that, like the coming of a storm, the silence will last until it passes. I will be okay.
