Alone?

Alone. Fragmented. Privately owned. The
attempt to unite is futile. A man --
or woman, or some other thing whose hands
act life chain-link dividing the land -- He --
or she or it -- acts anonymously,
pulling the strings and pressing heated brands.
Separate sand castles -- castles made of sand --
are the first to be swallowed by the sea.
Therefore, he or she or it feels safe, since
we are all lined up near a ready shore --
divided and deserving of derision --
separate sand castles lacking common sense.
Fools are we for thinking we are forlorn,
for we are united by our division.
