Allegory of the Stars

My aspirations were like grand constellations

Plucking one dream after the next

Then came the Big Bang of adolescence

With every burning goal

Came a larger person

To put it out

A burnt out star

Somehow escaped the allegory of the cave

Just because one pair of eyes

Refused to fathom the magnitude of my passions

Could not throw me off

My axis of dedication

The world rotates at roughly 1000 miles per hour

Almost as fast as I strive to believe in myself

Me
Our world
