All Roads Lead to Me

Location

Legs like towering columns

carved of immovable stone

every moment they support

the structure of the city

Left hand is aristocrats

poised and polished

in rich lacquered colors while the

Right hand is working

class

dry and cracked from years of hard labor

Eyes like the sky

cloudy and dark

blue

green

like the sloshy sea that carries brave warriors to their

deaths

A mind like the colosseum

full of excitement and wonder

powerful thoughts and feelings but also

sadness

conflict

doubt

My body is ancient

Rome

a flawless piece of art in

continuous construction

rebuilding, reshaping

a way of life
