All of my living heroes

Sat, 02/24/2018 - 01:31 -- puffin

I rejoice in sharing the earth
With someone so lovely as you.
I think of your face and I'm filled with mirth;
My joy and happiness can't be subdued.
But despite this thrum of ecstasy, I carry great trepidation,
As I know an end must come to even the grandest of celebrations.
While I'm grateful to exist at the same time
As someone I find utterly divine,
And am rhapsodic at seeing your life unfold,
I am sombered by knowing your death shall be potent twofold.
You will die in my lifetime,
Of that I'm sure.
My life will be a poem without rhyme;
I don't know how I'll endure.
