But This Ain't The Real Me

Location

People judge me by the looks and the actions they see daily.

It is hard to show them the real me.

The reason I don’t show the real me because I’m afraid

What they think about me.

So I have this curtain to cover my true self

To prevent the evil words I might hear daily.

But this ain’t the real me.

I dress a certain way to fit in.

But why should I blend in?

Keeping up with the latest trends

For I could feel accepted

Because I’m afraid of getting rejected.

So I have this curtain to cover my true self

For I could be like everyone else

But this ain’t the real me.

My personality is quite different at school

Because I don’t want to be treated like I’m a fool

Is that the only way to feel cool?

I guess it is.

So I have this curtain to cover my true self

For everyone could think I’m someone else

But this ain’t the real me.

Individuals think acting bad is the new thing to fit in.

So I act like that for I could blend.

So I have this curtain to cover my true self

So everyone will think I’m just like them

But this ain’t the real me.
