The Aftermath

Location

The trees and houses tremble under rain,
Bombarded, soaked, without a sign of light.
As townsfolk wait and try to hide their pain,
They wonder how their town could be alright.
'Til surely nothing standing could remain,
The storm will roar and rage throughout the night.
For anything to be the same again
Is not within the worried people's sight.

But Oh!─Just look─the clouds, relieved, now part,
And leaving in their wake, a sky of blue.
The children, freed, can play in light so new.
A sky so clear, great things anew can start,
And after years the plants can bloom and grow
Beneath a light so bright: a rainbow's glow.
