I've been accepted to college which is such great news

the only sad part is that I'll be away from you. 

Away from your love, away from your laughter

but it is ok I'll be fine, I cant stay forever.

I'm all grown up, and you're setting me free,

to enjoy my new life, and to follow my dreams

You've always told me to be what I want, 

you've been an incredible mother from the very start. 

I know you will miss me, I will miss you more

but someday soon I'll be back at the front door. 

Knocking and knocking till you let me in, 

into the home I have so dearly missed. 

Into the homes of two loving women

who have stuck by me from the very beginning. 

Who have loved me and cared for me all of my life

who have always been there and never left my side.

I'm 18 years old, what happened to your baby?

Maybe you blinked to fast maybe, just maybe. 

But stop close your eyes and go back to the beginning, 

to when the doctors said you were having a girl and the tears started streaming. 

I hope I made you the happiest mother

because your a great mother,  a mother like no other. 

I bet your mom is looking down at you now,

with a smile on her face, she is so very proud. 

I love you with all of my heart

I'm gonna hate the day when we have to part. 

When you drop me off at school and shut the door, 

you and Fran will miss me 

but I'll miss you guys more.
