“The first week out , anytime someone would touch me I flinched, jumped but NEVER tried to run . 15 days , 360 hours , 2 different jails , 2 holding cells & 3 different pods. How am I out of jail and still not free .”
This is the story of inmate 7768684
Tap tap click click clack pit pat
The winds blowing hard
cars zooming by
all these noises keep me on edge
always looking over my shoulder
Never knowing if they’re coming
silver I once admired remind me of blues an oranges
click clat tip tap
that’s the sound of me walking in shackles
pit pat pit pat
That’s the sound of me getting strip searched
Squat and cough
that’s me being degraded
I went from free as a bird
To a caged animal
went from a citizen to an inmate
from holding my head high to
face down and follow this wall
I was denied clothes for days
Because I came in a skimpy romper
I was quite a show
I eventually was and moved to a room where I could stretch my arms out and touch both walls
I then said” excuse me CO can I talk to a psych nurse “
as I read the paper they gave us you know for inmates it clearly says I have the right to talk to someone even if Im even if I’m just a number
The response I got was “ why all they are going to do is tell you think positive and give you a puzzle .”
72 hours later BOOM
I’m under my bunk bed shirt wrapped around my neck hyperventilating & vomiting on myself
Almost choking on my vomit guess who comes with a clipboard and questions
A PYSH nurse.
Having broken a law I deserved punishment, I didn’t feel human anymore
They broke me and this time I couldn’t put my pieces together
I am inmate 7768684 this is my story
