6.9 Things About Life That Turn Me On

One: The thought of sometimes draining

All the blood tainted dangerously with angst and hormones

Then filling up my bloodstream with mango juice.

Because I’ve been trying to drown

The sorrows that float within my sangre* in a pond.

The damned miseries have learned to float.

But most don’t know that

I’ve been eradicating the fuckers slowly.

Two: The  overwhelming sweet mangoes from Bangladesh

Which grow amongst the the rice paddies

Which add color to the various shades of green

Crayola has yet to add in its pack.

The thought of my loved ones

Back where my roots began,

Make me see colors even after I close my eyes.

Darkness is the ephemeral break to force you  to

Appreciate how good it was.

Three: The art my baby cousins have created in my favorite book

Etched hearts and flowers

With the Crayola colored pencils

Manifestation of childhood’s simple bliss.

May they only have to overcome

The melancholy beauty in Frida’s paintings

Inspired by her pain.

Four: Books with strong protagonists and

Witty banter

Because word play is the best foreplay

Don’t tell me you love me in only three words

Talk controversial to me

Five: Jewelry

Which you can give me to claim my heart

The women in my family covered in gold --

Their fingers, wrists, necks, and ears

I was taught to find the golden lining in every cloud.

Six: The smiles I share with the people I meet

Donating time for events bigger than myself

To be part of something to help and inspire others

Six point Nine: When love sneaks up behind me

Self love

Love for humanity

Love in between the ...
