413 Listen to Me

Location

This goes out to my town

Where I grew up

Where I never thought

I would see it suck...

All the souls out of it’s citizens

Scratching and itching limbs

Like it’s a normal site for the eyes

Of even the smallest kids

It started with one hit

Like it usually does

It started with a rap song

Talking about how cool it was

It started with a skate park

That was ripped away from all our hearts

With an arcade

Soon taken away

With an education system

Screwed up in too many ways

Covered in lies

Needles in thighs

Left on the streets to occupy time

Left on the streets…

Paralyzed

Why?

This goes out to the crisis in which we now endure

From bright and clear eyes

To ones that now blur

Uncontrollably closing

Before they can utter

A lifesaving word

For those who now see addiction is fatal

For those who now see this can happen

To even the ones

We call stable

This doesn’t happen to US

This couldn’t happen to US

It’s just THEM that lose it

It’s just THEM we can’t trust

Victims of judgment

Victims of a lost soul

Victims that

Will never grow old

Victims of darkness

In a fully lit room

Where getting their fix

Lightens their mood

Only to bring unavoidable doom

This is US

And this is NOW

Yet some lay voiceless

Underground

Now it’s time to reach out

So soon again we can be proud

Of this place...

My town
