404

No one noticed when she started wearing long sleeves in the summer.

No one said a word when she sat quietly at her desk, wiping tears from her eyes.

No one reached out to her when she sat alone at an empty lunch table.

No one called to check on her when she didn't show up to school.

So she figured,

'They can't see me. Why am I here? I don't matter. I am invisible.'

She went to the store.

She picked up a box of razors.

But when she went to check out

The cashier boy did something nobody else did.

"Are you sure you want to buy these?" he asked.

She looked at him.

He looked at her.

She left the store empty handed.

And began to search for reasons to live.

Thanks to that one boy.

Who asked one question.

To one very sad girl.
