2016 Presidential Election

Mon, 01/09/2017 - 14:29 -- Myah12

November 9th, 2016 and my eyes restrain tears

I feel the wrath of hundreds of eyes locking onto mine as I walk down the hallways of my high school

Their rambunctious laughter mocks my tired face from watching the historical crisis that happened the night before

I sit through class pretending my heart has not broken into a million pieces

Pretending my ancestors aren't ashamed

Pretending America will still be a land of the free

Pretending the wet spot on my shirt is water and not the saliva of man who was offended by my complexion

November 9th, 2016 and It feels more like 1965
