2 O'Clock in the Morning

And with the sun came a smile

A smile that stretches as far as the sun’s rays itself

As the day closes, the corners droop in correspondence

The sunlight retracts, time turns back

It’s 2 o’clock at night

Lying down on my bed of thoughts

Shrouded in the thick black blanket

It's all I'm left with

Wicked wars waging in the quiet night

All the soldiers are dead

Defenseless

The enemies are there, around the corners

Striking only when the night's darkest

They ravage my brain

Gunshots, explosions

They rattle my brain

Knives that carve, wires as barbs

They wrangle my brain

But when the dust clears, I recognise my defenses

I come to realise

It’s 2 o’clock in the morning
