wish i were a florist of old
to drape you in leaves of laurel gold
azaleas for your striking charm
wishes for peace and embraces warm

wish i were a florist late
left yellow chrysanthemums at your gate
rosemary and gardenias for your delight
lily of the valley if i might

wish i were a florist dear
tucking daisies and daffodils behind your ear
dream i might with starry eye
though poppies and wormwood 'round me lie
