“The Shepherd is Coming”

“The Shepherd is Coming”

As I’m wandering lonely as a sheep

I’m overtaken by deep sleep.

Wolves seek to overcome me,

But the Shepherd hears my plea.

He hears my bleating in the pastures

And searches for what He calls a treasure.

But as He searches, I grow weary

Of the sleep that consumes me.

As I sleep, I bleat and bleat.

I cannot move for I am weak.

Soon, the Wolves begin to seek

And find me as easy meat.

My deep sleep seems to doom me

But I remember what the Shepherd told me.

The Wolves begin to pounce with mouths wide open,

But in a flash, the Shepherd’s Staff had spoken.

The Wolves retreat in defeat,

And the Shepherd heals my feet.

“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee!”

Says the Good Shepherd who guides me.

This promise He has always kept

To remind me, after I have wept.

That He has come to save me from my fears

And will always be near to wipe my tears.

After He gathers all of His sheep to His care,

He will come again with His glory to share!
