If I could change

If I could change the world,
I'd remove the words
"WORLD HUNGER"
from our dictionary

I can look
at the food on my plate
and think, it's great,
yet by the next day
I forget what I even ate.
And to me? That's a privilege.
To have 3 or more meals a day,
sometimes not even have to pay
and not have to think about
a way to find food day to day.
But does everyone in the world
get to live this way?
. . .No, but
Why shouldn't they?

Why should I be able
to take my time to think about
WHAT am I going to eat?
when someone else,
across the world is thinking
"WHEN I am going to eat"?

Why should I be able
to have seconds and thirds
While someone out there
is still waiting for a first?

If I could change the world
No baby
no child
no adult
NO HUMAN BEING
would be allowed
to go hungry

If I could change the world,
I'd remove the words
"WORLD HUNGER"
from our dictionary
