The Dolphin

She saw her

Brothers as they

Gathered around,

Trying to walk on

Water,

Before they sank into

The depths of the

Ocean,

Before Jesus could

Grab their hand

And pull them out

So the dolphin

Found it better

To swim in the sand

As they've freely flew

In the ocean

And the other dolphins

Who've flaunted their

Pious blowholes

Wondered what

A dolphin was doing in

The sand,

And they've flipped their

Fins, and swished

Their mermaid tails

And with their

Blowholes

They scoffed, as she

Could no longer walk

On the water,

Sinking in the sand

As her brothers had

Sunk in the water,

Before Jesus reached

With His hand,

And pulled her out

Of the water,

And He gave her fins

That allowed her to swim

Freely in the water

Your poem reminds me of Emily Dickinson's way of finding deep meaning in small moments, especially in how you use the dolphin's journey to explore belonging and transformation. The movement from sand to water, ending with divine acceptance and freedom, creates a beautiful arc. Your short, flowing lines give the piece a graceful rhythm that matches its themes.
