june breeze

work day: over

commute: finished

status: aching to change my life

exhausted,

I opened my grestone window

& the chicago june breeze floated in

I was reminded:

if I wanted to change my life, it would be up to me.

if I wanted to change my life, it would take cultivation.

plan: made

job: quit

status: do I really deserve this?

worried,

I opened my laptop

& reached out for my first informational interview

I was reminded:

if I wanted to have a joyful career, I could not devalue my passions.

if I wanted to have a joyful career, I would have to be confident in my research.

informational interviews: led to volunteering

volunteering: became an internship

status: I was made for this

excited,

I unlocked my phone

& called every CIDA-accredited Interior Design graduate program

I was reminded:

if I wanted to be a licensed Interior Designer, grad school was integral.

if I wanted to be a licensed Interior Designer, I was on the right track.

phone calls: led to applying

application: led to enrolling

status: MFA in Interior Architecture begins in two weeks

thrilled beyond words,

I opened my heart

& began to write a poem

I was reminded:

if I wanted to change my life, it would be up to me.

if I wanted to change my life, it would take cultivation.

This poem is about:
Me
